Diabetes

This is from  Dr. Joseph Pinzone: “Don’t eat so many sweets, your teeth will rot out of your head!” I remember my mom telling me that growing up, but she never breathed a word about a worse offender: Diabetes . Diabetes affects 26 million Americans according to the CDC, but worse: 79 million Americans are currently suffering from Pre-diabetes (Metabolic Syndrome). But there is good news, Pre-Diabetes is reversible. Dr. Joseph Pinzone – an Endocrinologist, the CEO and Medical Director of Amai Clinic , and the Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA – regularly treats pre-diabetic and diabetic patients. Amai Clinic is particularly apt at reversing diabetes, mainly due to the fact that Dr. Pinzone employs fitness trainers and a Registered Dietician on staff to work with all patients as a supplement to his medicinal interventions.   Doctors nonchalantly “prescribing” diet and exercise is quickly b...

Smoothies...Yum!

Image
I love smoothies in the morning, after a workout, or as an afternoon snack. You can throw all sorts of healthy goodness into the  blender, and come out with a delicious and satisfying drink. If you're getting bored of your old smoothie recipe, here are some great ideas from bodybuilding.com I personally love to get some greens in with a handful of raw spinach. Add some mangoes, almond milk, half a banana and maybe some blueberries. What's your go-to smoothie?

Finding a Naturopath

I wanted to share a link to a great naturopath here in North Vancouver. Her name is Dr. Sacha Elliott and she's at the Lynn Valley Town Center. Check out her blog here: http://drsachaelliott.com/2012/06/25/naturally-thinner/ Thinking of going with a naturopath? Dr. Elliott is a great choice! If you already see a naturopath, what made you choose that type of doctor over a traditional Western doctor? Have a great night, Nicole
