Mistletoe Twist: Play Fitness Games While Watching The Holiday Classics
The
holidays are a perfect time to snuggle up and watch classic Christmas movies
with the ones you love. This year, try spicing up your movie watching by
including some fitness exercises to keep your waistline trimmed. Try these tips
from Shana Schneider, fitness expert and Founder of FITWEEK, a fitness company
dedicated to helping women turn any week into a fitweek.
Once Thanksgiving is
over in the US, the holiday movie marathons begin. There’s everything from the old
classics like It’s a Wonderful Life (Mr. Gower has the first line, "I owe
everything to George Bailey. Help him, dear Father."), and Miracle on 34th
Street (the original with Maureen O'Hara), to the modern classics like Elf (and
who doesn't like chewing on cotton balls?), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Dr.
Seuss was a genius), and Christmas Vacation (Jelly of the Month Club is the gift
that keeps on giving). These holiday classics are primed for good drinking
games, but since we’re all working on getting fit before the end of year - let's
face it, this was your resolution on January 1, 2013 - ditch the drinking
for some FITWEEK Fitness
Games and make that resolution a reality.
How the Grinch Stole
Christmas: Jump every time someone
says ‘Who’
Elf: Start and stop jumping
jacks every time the word Elf is used
Home
Alone:
Get up or sit down every time someone gets hit or falls down
A Charlie Brown

the arm of the couch every time Snoopy appears
Christmas

on each side any time cousin Eddie speaks
White

dance along every time there's a musical number
A Christmas
Story: Do five push ups during
the following scenes: Pink bunny rabbit costume, the leg lamp from France, the
tongue stuck to the pole. AND, any time you hear "you'll shoot your eye
out!"
For a fitness tip that
applies to all Christmas movies ever, do 10 squats every time someone appears on
screen wearing a Santa hat!
