Health and Fitness Apps

GE’s Facebook app HealthyShare, a tool for people to share health goals, track progress against goals and use friends as sources of inspiration and motivation toward better health includes new challenges that encourage users to get fit and live a healthier lifestyle. Starting today, specific #GetFit challenges, updated weekly, will encourage users to maintain a healthy lifestyle in ways that can help prevent cancer. The app can be shared with friends who will become a part of the journey toward better health by following progress, providing encouragement, and even participating alongside each other. The first HealthyShare #GetFit challenge launched today: #GetFit For Cancer Prevention Challenge: Sport the SPF (8/20 – 8/25) Going outside for a run or just to run errands? Whatever the reason, apply an SPF of 30 or higher on a daily basis to prevent skin cancer and sun damage. Other HealthyShare #GetFit challenges include: #GetFit For Cancer Prevention Challenge: Eat Less Sugar (8/26 – 9/1) Satisfy your sweet tooth with whole fruits and stick to an overall healthy diet—a habit that can help lower your risk for type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer. #GetFit For Cancer Prevention Challenge: Get a Gym Buddy (9/2 – 9/8) Since regular exercise decreases the risk of some cancers and other diseases, create a gym routine with a partner. The get fit portion of HealthyShare is being launched as part of a larger GE Healthcare “#GetFit” campaign that encourages people from all over the world to share their own health and fitness activities and what they are doing to reduce their likelihood of developing cancer, a leading cause of death worldwide.
